I have to say, I took a one year break from HN and only came back a few weeks ago, and I'm astonished to see how "garbagey" it is now. We're not yet at Reddit level but it does feel very different from a year ago.
Most people using the term "low trust society" are implying that certain subsets of the population are the cause of it, often with racial (non-white) and/or economic (lower class) components, whereas somebody like me views those groups and their behaviors, to the extent that it's true, as a symptom of the low trust society rather than the root cause. For me, the root cause is systemic corruption all the way to the top, for decade after decade.
Done this a long time ago. It wasn't prices that drove me away from Netflix and Co. It was how old contents started to be "updated" for "modern audiences/values", and how movies/shows kept being moved around between platforms.
Got my Bluray player, I buy a movie once in a while when I consider it a "classic" that I really want to have, otherwise local library has a lot of options. And worst case scenario, the high seas.
Same principles with music and games. I still get/burn CDs.
This is not "being able to serve", this is "being forcefully drafted". Can you share a few links highlighting how vocal feminists have asked for the draft to be extended to women? Thanks.
Always funny to see the most blatant lies be so forcefully put forward. Men were drafted while women were evacuated to the West. There are literal videos of that all over the place.
I more astound by the mental gymnastics how people can point at every single thing where women get an advantage but at the same tome ignore all the others where they are still disadvantaged
